Decades of established science show us that every person you meet forms an impression of you—often before you say a word. The Gentleman’s Edge explores how those impressions form and, more importantly, how you can put that knowledge to work in your own life. From style, grooming and body language to confidence, social skills, relationships and professional presence, it provides practical tools to help you influence the way the world sees—and responds to—you.

“Don’t mistake The Gentleman’s Edge for another book about suits and manners. Jim Harris is really writing about opportunity—how people perceive us, how those perceptions are formed, and what we can do to take greater control of the impression we make. It’s practical, intelligent, and backed by the science of human behavior. Jim knows his stuff, and this is a book a lot of men need.”
— Henry Ball
"He not only covers the basics on proper manners in many varied situations but includes great fashion, first impressions, and a host of must know down to the smallest details. Life changes quickly in these modern times and one has to be able to adapt quickly. I do wish as my six grandsons grew this book had been available to guide them along the way."
— Stephen Harris
While the title suggests it’s about the gentleman’s edge, it’s a book that applies to almost every aspect of life as it pertains to high levels of human interaction. It’s for parents, teachers, professionals, mothers, fathers, and anyone else who wants to improve their life. If you want to improve the way people see and interpret you in a more positive manner, nothing that I have ever read has stated it more clearly and concisely as “The Gentleman’s Edge.”
—Carl Jackson
"This book is fantastic. Worth the purchase and absolutely the read. It’s hard to put down with its real-world, and frankly, lost, application today. I am only a fraction of the way through the book and have already gleaned some pearls of wisdom. I train hundreds of Sales Professionals each year and look forward to using the insights in my own teachings."
– Matt Shaw
“You may sell more of this book to women for their men. I think a copy for every Christmas stocking is a no-brainer.”
— Denise Bayers
“Good solid information and a reference book that should be used over and over. It is a primer on how a gentleman should dress and conduct himself.”
— Greg Walls
The Gentleman’s Edge begins with the neuroscience and psychology behind first impressions — how they form in milliseconds, why they stick, and how they shape our opportunities before we ever say a word.
From there, the book equips you with practical, real-world tools:
This isn’t about trends or reinvention.
It’s about showing up as the best version of the man you already are.
“The Gentleman’s Edge isn’t about chasing trends—it’s about using proven science and timeless principles to help men project authenticity, confidence, and respect.”
— The Associated Press
“Men over 50 are finally getting the manual they should have had decades ago.”
— Business Life Magazine
